Ghibli’s Neppu Issue from February 2012 features anti-nuclear protesters.
Miyazaki has always been anti-nuclear and often demonstrates this through his work (hints to high emphasis on nature in his movies). The studio has even placed a banner up in the past declaring they do not want to use electricity that comes from nuclear power to make their movies. In the wake of the nuclear meltdown after the 3/11 earthquake, the tsunami, and the rising nuclear protests in Japan this was published in Ghibli’s own monthly magazine. The cover art was done by the background artist for Spritied Away (Yohei Takamatsu)
The signs say, “Protect the disaster are from nuclear power” and “Protect the children.”
